I’m Bassirou Goumbane (Bash) from InterGemm CNC & LASER https://intergemm.com/. We provide precision laser services (cutting, marking, engraving, cleaning) and CNC machining solutions.
As we explore how we can best support the Fab Labs community, I’m curious to hear more about the common CNC and laser needs within your labs. Are there specific challenges you face, projects you’re working on, or equipment/service gaps you’ve identified?
Understanding the community’s requirements will help us tailor our offerings and potentially collaborate on solutions.
We’re excited to be part of this discussion space and contribute to the innovative work happening in Fab Labs around the world.
Many Fab Labs struggle with maintaining consistent precision on different materials (especially composites and recycled materials), as well as having reliable support for custom or small-batch projects. Affordable access to high-quality laser cleaning or fine engraving is also often mentioned.
It might be helpful to share concrete examples of materials or complex geometries your services handle well. Have you considered offering shared access programs or training partnerships with Fab Labs?
Thank you so much for the thoughtful response, and for highlighting some of the core challenges Fab Labs face—precision across varied materials and affordable access to specialized processes like fine engraving and laser cleaning.
At InterGemm, we’ve worked with everything from stainless steel and aluminum to composites, reclaimed plastics, and even delicate ceramics. One of our recent projects involved micro-engraving serialized codes on recycled carbon fiber panels—maintaining clarity without compromising surface integrity. We also specialize in rust and paint removal on legacy machine parts using our fiber laser cleaning systems, which might be relevant to labs maintaining older equipment.
Regarding your great question on shared access and training partnerships: yes, we’re actively exploring remote-access job submission for small-batch work, as well as partner-based discounts and on-site or virtual training sessions for Fab Lab staff or members.
Would love to learn more about your work and see if there’s potential to pilot a program with your lab or others you’re connected with. Collaboration is key in this space!
