Discussion about AS220 Labs

https://www.fablabs.io/as220labs

Dear AS220,
I hope all is fine on your side of Earth.
I am contacting You by suggestion from @openp2pdesign (admin of fablabs.io).
We are launching a new Fablab, in Switzerland.
Our Fablab is called Fablab HEP Vaud. It is located in the Swiss school for teachers, in Lausanne. Our objective is to help school evolve towards a more sharing and collaborative place, where children are given the opportunity to create freely, using modern thinking and technology.
Fablabs.io requests that we get referee labs from a rather short list. I picked You in hope that You would agree to support our inscription in Fablabs.io.
Of course, I will send you any I formation you may request, to let You know more about us.
We already have the support from @Trox (Peter Troxler) and @openp2pdesign (Massimo Menichinelli, from Fab Lab Barcelona)
Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
With best regards,
Sébastien Actis-Datta

Hello AS220!

We are a newly created lab at Saint Paul’s School in Clearwater Florida. You are one of the listed referee labs we selected, and we wanted to reach out and introduce ourselves.

Our fabrication capabilities include: 3D Printing and modeling, laser cutting and engraving, CNC machining and milling. Electronic capabilities include: circuit production and rapid prototyping, oscilloscope, waveform generation, bench testing, soldering and rework. Dedicated woodworking area. We have an extensive makerspace with comprehensive capabilities. An inventory of new, recycled, and repurposed electronics and supplies is always on hand. Cross Platform software including industry level graphics, CAD/3D, prototyping, and productivity apps running on Mac and PC desktops. 20 MacBook Air laptops, along with a library of books and publications on electronics, making, and technology, are available.

We are very eager to be part of the community. By having the lab in an independent school, we are very fortunate to have many resources to share with the global and local community. As part of our offerings, we will have classes in prototyping and fabrication, 3D Printing and modeling, robotics, and more. On April 1st, we are having an “Engineering Day”, where we are opening the facility to the local community for lessons and demonstrations. We would be honored to be able to say we are officially part of the Fab Lab community! We will hold many similar events throughout the year providing access to the facility. Our summer camps are open to all students.

Our staff of educators is well networked locally and globally. Recently, I networked with hundreds of educators at the FETC and ISTE Conferences, sharing resources and ideas. In 2015, I conducted workshops on developing a makerspace at the CTEC Conference. The school has many successful alumni in the technology field that contribute time and materials to the lab, as well as conduct guest lectures.

Our new blog, saintpaulsfablab dot org will be updated with ongoing projects and ideas from the lab. It already does well in Google search results when “Fab Lab Clearwater” is used as a search term, allowing local people to find us.

We have approval from another referee lab we chose, Fab Ed Carolina, and hope you too will invite us to be part of the community! Please contact me with any questions.

Thanks again for your consideration!

Director of Innovation and Exploration

The main focus of the FabLab Neiva is to develop design and prototyping skill in the community, also is part of a free technological study in industrial design, the fablab is giving to the people a better space and quality in their learning process. i hope to be in more contact with your lab in the future. Thank you for the attention and i hope to get to know more about the fablab community through the application process.
