A Fab Lab is a central location where artists, designers, inventors, and other creative people are able to purchase a yearly membership and use equipment that they normally would not be able to use (3D printers, CNC machines, vinyl cutters, screen printers, electronic circuitry design, as well as others). Children get interested in science, technology, engineering, robotics and computers and are able to use their school knowledge in fun and exciting real-world scenarios.
I’m currently in the process of opening a Fab Lab in Fort Smith, Arkansas though right now I’m living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I’ve been working with a local CPA and so far we’ve completed the incorporation and am sending in the 501C3 paper work tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be ready to open next summer!
A couple of weeks ago I filled out the forms on this site to register my Fab Lab, but I haven’t heard back from the 3 “reference” labs that I choose to review everything… Do you happen to have any pointers on how to speed up that portion of the process?
